Welcome! Washtenaw Literacy's mission is to provide free literacy instruction customized to the needs of adults throughout Washtenaw County, utilizing a trained network of volunteer tutors. It is our vision to eliminate illiteracy in Washtenaw County. For over 40 years we have been empowering adults through improved literacy. Since our founding in 1971, we have served over 20,000 learners and trained and fully supported over 10,000 volunteer tutors. Learn more.

- Dixboro General Store supports Washtenaw Literacy: Participate in Dixboro Charity Days by shopping at the Dixboro General Store on December 5th, 6th, and 7th. 15% of all sales that weekend will be donated to Washtenaw Literacy to support our programming. - Burning Questions and Hot Topics: A Monthly Tutor / Mentor Discussion. All tutors are invited to join us on the first Saturday of every month from 9am-11am for an informal discussion and opportunity to support each other as we serve Washtenaw Literacy learners. Click here for more information.
- It's time for Quarterly Updates (QU's) for Personal Tutors and Learners: Anyone participating in Personal Tutoring between July 1st - September 30th, 2014 must complete a QU before October 15th. The information you provide helps us better support you, allows us to plan for programming needs, and aids us with raising funds necessary to continue offering free tutoring throughout Washtenaw County.
