LIFT Tutor Training

This interactive 3-hour training prepares volunteers to become personal tutors in our newest program, LIFT!

LIFT (Learning is a Family Thing) is a tutoring program for low-literate and low-income parents of pre-kindergarten children. It works directly with parents, often in their homes, to pursue two specific aims. The primary aim is to improve the literacy of the learner, based on their stated goals. The secondary aim is to help them learn developmentally appropriate literacy activities for their young children. LIFT tutoring does not require the tutor to be a parent, but it will generally require a once a week 2-hour commitment for 6 months.

This training focuses on strategies, sensitivity, lesson planning, and materials for literacy activities that incorporate the secondary aim of the program. You must register to attend!
