Appreciation Day Appreciation Day is an annual event held in the summer at Washtenaw Community College. Washtenaw Literacy tutors, learners and their families are invited to socialize together. Appetizers and beverages will be catered by Washtenaw Community College. Several learners receive awards recognizing their accomplishments. Power Tutoring On a Saturday in late February or early March, volunteer tutors and learners defy the cold weather attend workshops on various educational topics. Volunteers help with set-up, registration, copy making, food distribution and clean-up. Volunteers can also teach a workshop in their area of expertise.
