Tutor Training

Tutor Training Action Steps:

  1. Attend an ABCs of Washtenaw Literacy - Register online or call (734) 337-3338.  This is a pre-requisite for all other training.
  2. Decide what kind of tutoring you wish to do (program options) - Undecided?  Click on the program of interest to you, to read volunteer job descriptions.  Want to help where you are needed most?  Complete Core Tutor Training!  Then, you can tutor wherever you are needed.

  3. Register for Training - In your post-ABCs registration form or email Alison Austin, Program Director (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.).
    1. Core Tutor Training - All tutors are encouraged to complete Core Tutor Training.  This training allows you to tutor where you are most needed!  Click here to see a description of the included modules.  Core Tutor Training prepares volunteers to tutor in any and all of our programs. 
    2. "Quick Start" - For tutors who need a quick start option, a truncated training is available for some programs.  "Quick start" training requirements are listed in volunteer job descriptions above.
  4. Add all training dates to your calendar!  - Click here to read a description of each module as well as the specific dates for each.
  5. Download this Training Tracker so you can monitor your progress - Click here to download your training tracker.  Use this during training to track your progress.
  6. Download the training coursepack - (full packet coming in May)
  7. Get started by completing self-paced modules - After each module, you must submit a "completion form" to receive credit for the module.
